One restaurant is always famous with the stars. That restaurant is Le Vallauris. On February 14, 2011 it was the choice of Dustin Hoffman and his beautiful wife Lisa Hoffman. Hoffman, of course, is an outstanding American actor. Hoffman is known for starring in The Graduate, All the President’s Men and Wag the Dog. Hoffman currently is staring in the HBO series Luck. This series is based on life around a racetrack. The series was filmed at Santa Anita Horsetrack and at various locations around Las Angeles. Dustin Hoffman will also be busy producing a film for the British Broadcasting Company. The film is named Quartet and co-stars Maggie Smith and Albert Finney.
It is no wonder that Hoffman’s chose Le Vallauris. First, Le Vallauris features an extensive wine list. While those present during the Hoffman’s meal remain mute, Le Vallauris is known for its outstanding 1997 Louis Roederer, “Cristal” (Magnum). This champagne features a floral bouquet with a subtle hit of almonds and hazelnuts. Louis Roederer was founded in 1776 and is located in the wonderful Champaign country of Reims, France.
Or maybe instead they chose Cabernet Sauvignon red wine from one of California’s premiere wine producers Paul Hobbs. Mr. Hobb’s has been described as a trailblazer in the wine industry and his 2003 Beckstoffer- To kalon would have been sure to please the Hoffman’s. Mr. Hobb’s wines are set apart first because he hand harvested his grapes and then cold soak them for 5 to 7 days before soaking them for about a month with the skins on. It is then aged for 21 months in the finest quality French Oak Barrels. It was then bottled in July 2005.
Sources that want to remain anonymous say that Dustin’s meal begun with a red beet and pear salad topped with goat cheese and served with a pistachio oil dressing. While his wife chose the Roasted Tomato and Corn Soup. Then they both enjoyed the pumpkin, mushroom and spinach ricotta ravioli dish. Dustin and Lisa finished the meal with the trio of sorbets and a cookie.
You too can enjoy an awesome meal like the Hoffman’s. Like the Hoffman’s you will not be disappointed in your meal. Who knows who you might meet on your visit as Kirk Douglas, Nancy Sinatra, Javier Barderm, Penelope Cruz, Suzanne Somers, James Galanos, and Barry Manilow all own property very near the restaurant.
