Dutton Estate – Thomas Road – 2008 – Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
When dining at Le Vallauris, there’s nothing like enjoying a sumptuous meal with a loved one. A perfect meal isn’t perfect, though, without a worthy complement: wine. Le Vallauris pairs its exquisite cuisine with some of the most flavorful, aromatic and wondrous wines to be found. One of those wines comes from the highly revered Dutton Ranch. This California wine is grown in Sonoma County within the Russian River Valley appellation. It’s none other than the 2008 Dutton Ranch – Thomas Road – Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
California is one of the most rich wine spots on Earth and is home to around 100 kinds of grape grown in over 100 different wine areas. Couple that with a combination of different microclimates, soil types and a diverse set of winemakers with different methods in wine making and you have one of the most exciting places to grow wine anywhere in the world.
This red wine from Dutton Ranch received 90 pts from the International Wine Challenge and 90 points from Wine Advocate. The aroma of the Pinot Noir has blackberry fruit lead along with black cherry and sweet caramel. Coriander spice notes are also found. The Pinot Noir’s aroma of candied cherry and berry fruit immediately come through as it opens in the glass and is almost described as jumping out. Its flavor in the mouth is equally impressive with an immediate impression of broad, thick tannins that act as a fitting complement to the toffee wood notes and black cherry fruit.
This amazing red wine is rich in flavors, with all these accents coming to a focus by bright acidity and moderate alcohol. This lets the lasting flavors of the fresh berry fruit leave the lasting impression.
This Pinot Noir is perfect with roast chicken, braised vegetables and is good with practically any preparation of salmon, making the Russian River Valley a great wine for pairing but one that can stand alone as well.
